The Spirit of College Hockey
Tradition and Spirit
College hockey roots can be traced back to the late 1800's on ponds and lakes with goalies wearing ball caps instead of a masks and players carrying heavy pieces of lumber with straight blades. From these early days, college hockey has blossomed into one of the most well attended NCAA events - The Frozen Four.
There are many great venues and many great rivalries, but the fans, consisting of students and faculty, alumni and townspeople, family and friends, are at the heart of college hockey. These fans have created a special following, not only for their own institution, but for the most exciting college sport in the country. These are loyal supporters who sleep over night in ticket lines for a season pass, paint their face and body in school colors, and attend the midnight madness practices to kick off the season. These fans carry on the tradition of this great sport.
